Shahrukh Khan on Farhan Akhtar's Oye, It's Friday Show

After 2 years of the remake of DON, Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar have once again come together and it looks like they were never away. They went on to share an excellent rapport all over again, and all this happened on the sets of 'Oye, It's Friday' where they got into a joyful and playful zone all over again.

A source who saw the show being shot right in front of her own eyes commented, 'I was told that Shah Rukh Khan would be there just for three hours to shoot for a single episode. I was keenly following the proceedings and while the audiences were entertained with what they saw, Farhan and Shah Rukh were in their own zone altogether. At one point in time, it seemed that they were blissfully unaware about the fact that there were people around them and the camera was on.'

She adds that Shah Rukh Khan was at his charming best and he along with Farhan Aktar caught up with each other as long lost freinds even though they are in constant touch since the days of DON - THE CHASE BEGINS AGAIN. 'Yup, it seemed that they were just too happy chatting with each other. They continued to chat and some more chat followed and before anyone knew, the production guys realized that they already had material ready for one whole episode.'

Everyone was so happy with the way the shoot was going that it was mutually decided by one and all to make it a two-episode show instead of a single episode.

The source further reveals, 'Farhan and Shah Rukh decided that they won't abruptly end the show just for the sake of it. They decided to extend it further and it didn't require any script or prepartion since the shoot was taking its natural course. There was nothing additional required in the script. In the end, Shah Rukh, who had come only for 3 hours stayed on to spend as many as 5 hours for the show. It has turned out to be the best episode of 'Oye, It's Friday'.

Javed Akhtar as an Actor in Delhi 6 Abhishek and Sonam Kapoor

Famous writer-poet-lyricist and part-time actor Javed Akhtar, will be seen in one more on-screen appearance in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's much awaited Abhishek bachchan and Sonam Kapoor starrer DELHI 6, aka DILLI 6. The very busy lyricist and reality show judge has accepted the request to appear in a very brief but special appearance in RANG DE BASANTI director's next. Although its Prasoon Joshi and Gulzar, who have been regular lyricists for a Rakeysh Mehra film, Javed sahab has agreed to the part role, something that the cut-throat number game rivals should learn from!

Coming to Javed Akhtar, this is not the first time he will be seen on the movie screen. Before this he was seen briefly in projects like Shah Rukh Khan's home banner venture, MAIN HOON NA, where he played himself. Though it is still not clear as to what role Javed Akhtar gets to essay in DELHI 6, and what length the role would go.

While on DELHI 6, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra took two years in finalizing the cast of his next directorial venture after RANG DE BASANTI and AKS. However, the wait was definitely worth it because when the first look of the film was unveiled at the recently concluded Dubai Film Festival, the response is said to have been fantastic!

People are waiting for the release of Delhi 6, audience have really liked the promos which are running on tv, the song Massakali matakkali has been hugely liked.

Big Pictures and Excel Entertainment new launch, the much awaited movie LUCK BY CHANCE is all set to release on 30th January 2009. Directed Farhan Akhtar's sister Zoya Akhtar and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani & Farhan Akhtar, LUCK BY CHANCE is starring Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Kapoor, Isha Sharvani and in a very special appearance Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik plays a superstar in the movie and makes a lengthy special appearance in the film. This is the second film for Farhan Akhtar as an actor after the very successful ROCK ON!

The music has been given by the trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy while the lyrics are by Javed Akhtar.

LUCK BY CHANCE is a contemporary tale set in a world desperate to escape its own reality.

The film is about life in Bollywood , in which LUCK plays a huge role. Here, notions of superstition, fate and destiny underline every life, as grand desires and opportunity converge to form strange patterns.

Sona (Konkana Sen Sharma) arrives in Bombay to make it big in the film Industry. Wide eyed but ambitious, she does whatever it takes, to make it. She lives on her own in a rented flat - a luxury for most in this bustling city and spends her time with a motley crew of loyal friends whose lives are also entwined with Bollywood, everyone in the search of a bigger dream.

Vikram (Farhan Akhtar) has just moved to the city leaving all his the comforts and his parents behind, from Delhi. He is a mover, he is used to getting what he wants and is smart enough to know when to demand it and when to manipulate it. He is young and handsome, and full of promise. Sona begins to fall for Farhan's character, and is enjoying his attention and affections; they develop a romantic relationship.

Rolly (Rishi Kapoor) is a successful though superstitious producer who only works with the Superstars. He is making a potential blockbuster launching Nikki Khurana (Isha Sherwani), the 18-year-old daughter of 70's superstar, Neena played by Dimple Kapadia. The hero of the film, Zaffar Khan, played by Hrithik roshan, is Rolly's favorite superstar. He was launched by Rolly and went on to become a huge success at the box office.

The wheels of fate indeed continue to spin favorably for Vikram, as elsewhere in the industry, havoc spreads on the sets of producer Rommy Rolly's new film. Vikram is called in for an audition and uses this opportunity to the fullest.

Dev D - Abhay Deol Anurag Kashyap Movie Previews, Ratings and Reviews

DEV D is a modern attempt on Devdas the novel by Sarat Chandra. Though Devdas has been adapted on films many times and by some illustrious filmmakers like P.C.Barua, Bimal Roy and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, DEV D will still appear as fresh and riveting a tale of lost love and self-destruction.

Classically Devdas has been hailed as the ultimate lover who drowns himself when he looses his love and leads himself to self-destruction. DEV D on the other hand unabashedly proclaims Dev as the hypocrite who drowns in self pity and as a man who could not stand up for himself.

DEV D breaks all the typecasts of the original novel including it's principal characters. DEV D in essence is the tale of a man who goes into self destruction but the circumstances and the characters he meets are the people we meet and know and are of this generation.


The Plot / Dev D Story

Dev (Abhay Deol) is the son of a zamindar. Dev and Paro (Mahi Gill) are childhood sweethearts. Differences in their status and caste prevent their marriage. Dev is sent to Delhi while Paro is married off to a rich but aged widower. In Calcutta Devdas meets the prostitute Chanda (Kalki) but remorse drives him to excesses.


Anurag Kashyap did not want to do another remake of any the 9 previous films versions titled Devdas. His version was created as a modern take on the 1917 original classic novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Anurag Kashyap decided he wanted to make his own version of Devdas to reflect the original novel but through 2008 mores, with the lead character of Devdas as a debauching, hypocritcal sensualist, who is self destructive without knowing he is destroying himself.


Unlike prior endeavours by filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, DEV D is set in modern world where plastic money like ATM debit and Credit cards play more important role than hard cash, there is advance mode of communication like mobile, internet chatting instead of traditional means like telegrams. Globalization has expanded the horizon of technological availability.

DEV D has been shot in the winters of Punjab and Delhi. The backdrop to this saga oscillates between the rustic and colorful Punjab to the Foggy and Dingy lanes of Pahadganj, connaought place and Old Delhi.

Chandni Chowk To China is all set to release on 16th January, 2009. The movie stars Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone in the leads. Hindi Cinema veteran Mithun Chakraborty and Hong Kong veteran Gordon Liu are also playing important roles in the movie.

Experts say that, this movie is partially inspired by Akshay Kumar's true life Story, his journey from being a chef in Bangkok to bollywood.

The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

The music has been given by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, while Bappi Lahri has lent his voice for one

Synopsis Story for Chandni Chowk to China:

Akshay Kumar play Sidhu in Chandni chowk to China, He is the lowest on the totem pole, cutting vegetables at a roadside food stall in Chandni Chowk, Delhi. He wishes to escape his dreary existence and looks for shortcuts with astrologers, tarot card readers, & mock fakirs- basically believing anything except himself, despite his father figure Dada's (Mithun Chakravorty) best efforts. His redeeming moment arrives when two strangers from China claim that Sidhu (Akshay Kumar) is a reincarnation of a war hero in the past and take him to China. Sidhu now dreams of wine, women and a princely existence in foreign lands. Thanks to the devious translator, a conman by the name Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey), but little does he know that he is being taken to the promised land to rid the Chinese village of the vicious smuggler Hojo (Gordon Liu)!

So Sidhu blissfully sets forth to China with Chopstick who instigates dreams of a delicious future and forgets to reveal the perils which await him.

On his way, he meets Sakhi (Deepika Padukone), Ms. Tele Shoppers Media (Ms TSM) who has embarked on a journey to pay homage to the land of her birth and her dead father and twin. Initially Sidhu through a series of lucky coincidences manages to sidestep being beaten by Hojo's men but finally Hojo catches up with him and exposes him as the country buffoon that he really is.

Movie Preview of Billu Barber - Shahrukh Khan & Irrfan Khan

The much awaited shahrukh khan, Irffan Khan BILLU BARBER is all set to hit the screens in Februray. Remake of the super-hit Malayalam movie, KADHA PARAYUMBOL, the Priyadarshan directed hindi BILLU BARBER has been produced by Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment. This is for the first time that Shah Rukh and the vibrant Pritadarshini have come together.

BILLU BARBER has Irrfan Khan playing the title role and Shah Rukh Khan playing an extended guest appearance (the one played by Mammootty in the original), a role of about 45 minutes and also doing 2-3 item numbers with his favourite ladies Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. Apart from Irrfan Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, the film also stars Lara Dutta who'll be seen playing Irrfan's wife in the movie. Other cast includes Om Puri, Asrani and Rajpal Yadav.

The music of the film is composed by Pritam and the lyrics give by Gulzar.

Billu Barber's (Irrfan Khan) life is changed when a film unit arrives at his village for shooting a movie. To Billu's surprise, the star of the movie is none other than Sahil Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) who was Billu's old school friend. Instantly, Billu becomes prominent man in the village and attains fame and respect. Villagers urge him to make acquaintance with the superstar, but Billu is intimidated by his friend's superstar status. He thinks that Sahil would never acknowledge his friendship with a barber. Billu strives to meet the star but is unsuccessful. Finally, he fails after lots of struggle.

People suspect that Billu is fibbing in order to gain fame and start offending him. Billu's family and children become apprehensive about his claim. In the end, for an invited school function, the star reveals his past. He tells the audience that in his school days he had a friend who always stood by him in his hardships. He tells how much the friend helped him by providing food when he was hungry, provided clothes when he did not having any. He tells that the friend gave him the money to join acting by selling his ancestral ear ring and that friend happens to be Billu. At that time the people recognize about Billu and the movie happily ends.
